Hamilton Warrant of Fitness (WoF) Testing

Get a warrant of fitness for your car, van, ute or trailer at our Hamilton WoF Testing Center within our Frankton workshop.

Warrant of Fitness Certification Times

  • If your vehicle is brand new and has never been registered in NZ, it’ll be given an initial WoF inspection and issued with a Warrant of Fitness for 3 years.
  • If your vehicle is less than 2 years old, the WoF will be issued to the third anniversary of when it was first registered.
  • If your vehicle is between 2 and 3 years old, the WoF will be issued for 12 months.

For older vehicles you have to get a warrant of fitness check every:

  • 12 months for vehicles first registered on or after 1 January 2000.
  • 6 months for vehicles first registered before 1 January 2000.

Important!

You must keep your vehicle up to WoF standard at all times. You can be fined if you drive any vehicle that isn't up to WoF standard on a road. A police officer can stop you for a roadside vehicle check at any time.
