Leaks and Repairs

Did you know that releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere is illegal and depletes our ozone layer.

At HMM we can test your system using methods like:

  • Pressure testing the system
  • UV dye detection and
  • By using a leak detector machine.

Our advanced air conditioning machines can also tell us if your system has a leak during service. If you your system is low on refrigerant there is a leak - refrigerant gas isn't like fuel and should not run out.

Detecting a problem

It's usually pretty easy to tell whether your A/C is working well in warmer months - the air isn't blowing cold or cool enough. In the cooler months the major tip is that your demister won't be working as well. You may not have known that it's your air conditioner that actually drives your window demisting systems. So, if that's not working well, then your A/C might not be working properly.

Regassing/Recharging Your A/C

Air-con regassing is the process of removing the old refrigerant gas from your air conditioning system and replacing it with new refrigerant, so your air con can run cold again. It should be the first thing you explore if your air-con system isn't blowing as cold as it should.

We have the equipment to work with the folllowing refrigerants: R134A and R1234YF

car-leaking-water

Why is there a puddle of water under my car after using the air con?

This is normal, it's likely just condensation from the cooling mechanisms. Chilled gas passing through an evaporator creates condensation which freezes, melts, then drains via a hose placed beneath your vehicle.

If this hose is blocked or disconnected, it can result in water leaking on to the vehicle cabin floor by your feet.

So, if you don't see a puddle forming after parking and you have used the air con, closer inspection may be needed to make sure everything is working as it should be.
